WolfeSmiths was founded by Daniel Wolfe and Nick Smith. At the time, we possessed nearly two decades of combined experience in property investment research, land sourcing and construction but quickly decided that conventional property investments (single dwellings), that we had previously specialised in were not going to deliver the returns we wanted for our clients. Single dwellings are great for some, but we wanted to do better. Most of these investments are completely reliant on capital growth and are usually negatively geared. They often limit investors’ cash flow and lifestyle while they wait for long-term results.

With the help of foundational team member and Head of Acquisitions Arthur Tete, we discovered locations that were benefiting from the exodus from major cities to lifestyle locations and growing regional centres. We found these areas had high-uplift potential due to lower land and build costs combined with established properties still being valued highly. This meant there were far more attractive options for investors. We also discovered that generally speaking, regional Australia enjoyed stronger rental and growth prospects for some time. A trend that is likely to continue with the push deeper into the world of technology and work-from-home opportunities. We then built a team of affiliates, such as builders, designers and planners, that helped us to deliver these highly desirable, small development projects. Projects that most investors could access through standard residential lending and could be completed in approximately 15-24 months.
